The close up of the boom operators hand as he was thinking about dropping the boom was amazing...this was really funny :)

way too arty ... the whole idea of this contest is TO TELL A STORY in 3 minutes!
learn from kevin smith and the guys who win competitions like these!
best of luck next time!
p.s. you guys totally work in an indie video store don't you? (and hate people who don't love 'the piano' and 'the crying game')

Are you being serious? If you are, i'd like to point out that nowhere does it say that teams have to "tell a story". In fact the rules say simply this: the competition format The filmmakers have just 24 hours to write, shoot, edit and score an original film no longer than 4 minutes (including credits) based on their theme and surprise element assignment. A "Film" can be a lot of things, it doesn't need to have a conventional story. Stop picking on these guys. |

I'm going to have to agree with Kevin Wright on this one... It wasn't even that "arty"; it's the wrong word to use. It's making fun of itself, and cocky filmmakers...it's essentially a glorified comedy.
How DOESN'T that tell a story? Now, if you wanted to comment on the buzzing in the background on all the audio, then I'd agree with you... but you have to at least give them props for pulling off what they were intending to do with the film. |

What's with the hate, man. Just because it's subdued humor doesn't mean it's arty or pretentious. Anyways, I really, really dug this one. Great acting from everyone, and I love the reference to crucifix symbolism in movies (hopefully I won't be called an indie asshole for using a term like that). I kinda got caught up in outlining the rules, but yeah, this wasn't even "artsy"(as if that's a bad thing...psshh). I just thought it was a flat out funny satire ON pretentious movies.
That's it, this jerk just talked me into voting for this as my fav! haha... |

My biggest worry was that you guys would think this was pretentious but really it's my response to the writer's block that hit me 30 seconds after getting the theme assignment. All I could think about was the stress of shooting so i figured we might as well just turn the camera on ourselves. At least it felt honest.
I approached it as a riff on 'day for night', asking the same question of whether movies are superior to real life (I think they can be).
It's not as focused as some of the work on this site but we had a lot of fun making it.
Thanks for watching
- Andrew

Criticism is good! I wondered why every comment is so sweet and nicey, and why there are so few omments on the films. It seems that some think that it is terrible to say what they feel. Criticism makes us better, good or bad, we should know what the audience thinks and feels about these films. Face it, sometimes what is intended to be funny, isn't. And some efforts are weak. So lets comment freely and not worry about being politically correct.
