Animation Race 2012

 

 

The Animation Race 2012 is the latest competition from Film Racing which challenges participants to create short animated films over the course of 12 days (300 hours to be exact) based on a theme, characer, and object assignment.  Anyone may participate (18 years of age or older, or must have signature of parent/guardian) and the competition is open to all forms of animation, including but not limited to, 2D, 3D, stop-motion and rotoscoping.  The competition, which was previously named Animadness, was first held in 2006.  Click here for frequently asked questions.

• Sign up your team.  There is no limit to team members and if you work better alone, go for it.

• Assignments will be sent to all registered teams at 12PM ET on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012.

• Teams have 300 hours to create an original short animated film (3:30 film + 0:30 credits = 4:00 min maximum)

• All films must be uploaded to filmracing.com by the submission deadline of 11:59PM ET on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012.

• The top 12 films will be streamed here on filmracing.com.  Audience and judges will choose a winner (separately).

 

It's easy to register.  First, read the Official Rules and Participation Agreement.  When you have read, understood, and agree to the terms, you are ready to register by clicking here.  The entry fee per team is US $95 until the Final Entry Deadline of February 22, 2012.

Artwork Release (for any animation, artwork or illustrations used in your film)

 

The winner of the Animation Race 2012 receives USD $1,000 Cash and more great prizes will be announced soon.  In addition to the cash and prizes, the following awards will be given to the top films:  Best Film, Best Direction, Best Writing, Best Actor (Voiceover), Best Editing, Best Original Music Score, Best Sound Design, Best Set Design (2D, 3D, and Stop Motion), Best Character Design (2D, 3D, and Stop Motion).
