5.  Maximum Time Limit

1.  Brands :

Just a reminder to do your best to keep all corporate logos / brands out of your film if you do not have clearance from the owner.  Films that include brands may hinder the chances for internet placement, distribution and wider exposure due to rights issues.  A few examples are:

Beverages:  If your actors are drinking beverages on screen, such as coffee or beer, make sure the hands cover the labels so the brand can not be identified.

Clothing:  Try to have your actors/extras wear clothing without any brands that can be easily identified, such as a big Nike swoosh or a Professional Sports Team logo.

Background: Watch out for brands in the backgrounds of your shots that are easily identified, such as boxes of cereal, posters and storefronts w/ logos (i.e. McDonalds, Starbucks, etc.)

2.  Submitting Your Film & Paperwork (Mailing + Uploading) :

Important Note!   There are 2 options for getting us your film and paperwork.  Participants can mail us the film in the correct format along with the paperwork.  Participants may also upload their film on the website and fax/e-mail us their completed paperwork.  Though it's not required, participants have the option of mailing AND uploading their films.  If you upload the file by the submission deadline in the correct file format and it works properly, than we will use the uploaded film as the master.  If there is a problem with your uploaded film, than we will use the hard copy that was mailed as the master.

Mailing Film & Paperwork:

If you are mailing your Film and paperwork, the completed Film must be mailed to the Address below by 11:59PM (NYC Time) on December 1, 2009, and must also bear a postmark no later than 11:59PM EST on November 23, 2009.  All Entries and other materials mailed in packages that are either: (A) postmarked later than 11:59PM EST on November 23, 2009; or (B) are not received by the LLC by December 1, 2009; or (C) both; will not be reviewed and will be ineligible for the Film Racing Grand Prix 2009.  So, make sure to postmark and mail out your movie on or before 11:59PM EST on November 23, 2009, and make sure it will get to the LLC in NYC on or before December 1, 2009!   The address to mail the completed film and paperwork is:

Film Racing Grand Prix 2009

c/o NYC Midnight, LLC

130 7th Avenue #358

New York, NY 10011

Uploading Film:

The only acceptable format for the upload is a Quicktime DV file.  To upload your film and for instructions on how to create a proper Quicktime DV file, go to http://www.filmracing.com/GrandPrix/upload.htm.  The upload must begin before the submission deadline to be considered on time.

Faxing or E-mailing us your Paperwork:

In lieu of mailing us your paperwork, you may fax to us at (866) 838-3714 or e-mail us the scanned documents (.pdf's recommended) to nycmmm@msn.com.  In the subject of the fax or e-mail, please include the text: "GP2009 Paperwork" and your Team Name and Film Title.

3.  Format of your Film :

Uploading Film:  The only acceptable format for the upload is a Quicktime DV file.  To upload your film and for instructions on how to create a proper Quicktime DV file, go to http://www.filmracing.com/GrandPrix/upload.htm

Mailing Film:  The finished film must be submitted in one or more of the following formats:

- mini-DV (NTSC)

- QuickTime DV File – uncompressed, supplied on a DVD-ROM (DATA DVD)

- DVD – playable in a standard DVD player

Each film must be clearly labeled with the following information: YEAR, TEAM NAME, TITLE OF FILM, and RUNNING TIME.

It is highly recommended to include backups, in case the film submitted has issues. So, if you submit on DVD, it is a very good idea to submit at least 1 backup in a different format (mini-DV or QuickTime DV File burned on a DVD-ROM).

No HD formats please...just a reminder that the submissions must be in Standard Definition (SD).  You may shoot in High Definition, but films submitted on High Definition (HD) formats may not be accepted.

4.  Releases & Non-Union Reminder :

A Cast & Crew Participation Agreement, and all talent, location, artwork and music releases must be submitted with your film.  Releases can be downloaded at http://www.filmracing.com/GrandPrix/GrandPrix.htm

Please remember that all productions must be non-union.  We can not screen any films that include performances from union actors, even if they provide union waivers.

5.  Maximum Time Limit :

The finished film must be a MAXIMUM of five minutes (5:00) in duration (when played at its normal and viewer-discernible speed, as determined by the LLC in its sole discretion), from picture start to picture end.  The maximum length of credits is thirty seconds (0:30).  Credits are not considered part of 5:00 duration of the film mentioned above.  So, a film can be five minutes long (5:00) with an additional thirty seconds (0:30) of credits, for a total running time of five minutes and thirty seconds (5:30).

6.  Credits :

Please remember to include the credit "Created in 100 hours for the Film Racing Grand Prix 2009 - www.filmracing.com"
